20 Ways to SAVE on GROCERIES!

If there's one thing I know about, it's buying groceries and cooking!  Grocery or food purchases take a huge chunk out of your budget!  As a homeschooling mother, childcare provider, and wife, I find myself at the stove cooking more than anywhere else throughout the day.  Everyone should consider the amount they are spending on food items; dining out, eating at home, vending machine snacks.  I CHALLENGE you to write down each and EVERY time you spend money on food to get a clearer picture of how much you are really spending.  YOU will be amazed! From that early morning coffee, drink and vending machine snacks... I can show you ways to save on your food and grocery bill. 1.  Buying snacks, drinks and food items prior to leaving the house can save a bundle.  Snack and drink machines normally charge double what you pay at the grocery store or food warehouse.  If you have a refrigerator at work, I suggest buying a stock of drinks to store there.  Putting your name on these ite

Cabbage and Kielbasa

My husband actually came up with this recipe, and it's one of our FAVORITE, inexpensive dishes!  I love cooking in iron pots & iron skillets.  If you've never tried cooking in iron, something about it improves the taste.  I thought I was imagining this, but I actually tried the same recipe in other types of cookware... pyrex, stainless, etc. Here's what you will need: CAST IRON POT 1 head of green cabbage 2 packages of Eckrich Farms Kielbasa 2 green bell pepper (can use red, yellow... or combination) 1 vidalia onion, (white or red will suffice) 2 tbls. canola or olive oil Cajun Spice (Weber N'Orleans Cajun Spice... or Camp Dog Cajun Seasoning **see below for where to find) Cut cabbage into chunks, slice pepper and onion.  Cut kielbasa into 1" sections.  Put oil in bottom of pot to prevent sticking.  Layer; kielbasa, cabbage, seasoning, pepper, onion, cabbage, kielbasa, seasoning, pepper, onion... until you've used all your ingredients.  I don&#

Getting Out of Debt

Upon deciding to stay home to homeschool my children, my husband and I had to a LOT of soul searching.  Without the income I had received in the past, we would definitely need to do without frivolous items... or stuff... which didn't really add value to our lives.  By doing this, by creating REAL life experiences, instead of spending money on THINGS we did NOT need, we realized emotional, and spiritual fulfillment. If I could tell YOU one thing... and PRAY for you to listen... (other than believe in God, family and all that... LOL!)... I would tell you to PLEASE live within your means, and CREATE REAL experiences with your significant other, and children... family. Get OUT of Debt - a few tips 1.   Plan a Budget; Monthly, Weekly, Daily  AND STICK to it! 2.  Left over monies after planning your budget should be divided in 1/2.  Put the 1st half in an emergency fund and apply the 2nd half to credit card debt, signature loans or other small loans.  START applying to the debt,

Grilled Bacon Wrapped Venison Tenderloin

YUMMY! My husband requested this dish in place of ham or turkey for our NEW YEAR'S FEAST!  And I am so glad he did!  The bacon... wow... the venison... arh, arh, arh... 1 strip of Tenderloin 1 lb. of smoked bacon 1/4 c. onion powder 1/4 c. garlic salt 1/4 c. pepper (black/white or both) SOME butter Skewers or toothpicks to hold bacon in place Ingredients First you will need to spread the seasonings/spice evenly in a long baking, casserole or cake pan; one spice at a time: Spread evenly  Then take your tenderloin and roll into the spice to cover the entire piece of venison. THICKLY cover the ENTIRE piece! Take your seasoned tenderloin and wrap with strips of bacon using toothpicks or skewers to hold the bacon in place. Bacon wrapped and held in place w/ skewers Heat an iron skillet, add butter.  When butter is completely melted, and bubbling... gently place tenderloin to sear each side with butter until bacon is SLIGHTLY browned. UNTIL SLIGHTLY B

Resistant to Change

Follow along as best you can... I'll get to the 'point' in the end.  An article lit a spark under my tail yesterday. It was covering the topic of homeschooling... and how people who homeschooled their children were extreme and resistant to change.  This 'idea' wasn't at all what I'd planned on writing over... but God lead me to do it... and this is what He put in my heart and mind to say. To begin with; As a woman, I've found writing a unisex, content specific blog somewhat difficult, to say the least.  As much as I'd like for everyone to read my blog, and take something from it, I realize and understand it will not appeal to the senses of everyone.  Very often, I refer back to my husband and his take on important; unisex issues or subject matter. My husband is the ONE and ONLY man in my life that I've EVER looked up to.  NO - he ain't perfect - but he's the best possible person he knows to be.  He is a MAN on all accounts - and I lo

MAMA Gone WILD!

I'm not sure if men PERSONALLY experience these episodes, but most certain they've witnessed them at some point in there life.  Sometimes life seems unbearable... but with a little help we all get through it!  This was written to let mothers, young and like me know... it's ok ... we all go through it! MAMA Gone WILD I'm sure we've all heard about the videos; MTV type Spring break beach parties where young girls go around, scantly clad doing the most unimaginable things.  We'll don't worry, I'm not going there with this (sorry men)... well... maybe not in the same context... or content... Just think about it... Can you imagine getting caught on video in a not so flattering moment?  A moment created in sheer desperation to get the attention of your children?  I mean, "to get attention"... that's usually why most people unfailingly do the maniacal things they do... right?  I mean, this attention getting juncture goes way beyond "
